Dong-A Pharm MelaNosa Cream 30g is a South Korean medicinal spot treatment for hyperpigmentation containing 4% hydroquinone. It inhibits melanin production and breaks down existing pigment to target stubborn dark spots, melasma, freckles, and acne scars. Because of its high potency, it is meant for strict spot treatment only.
Key Usage and Precautions
- Spot Treatment Only: Do not use it as an all-over moisturizer. Dab a thin layer strictly onto the pigmented areas.
- Sun Sensitivity: Hydroquinone significantly increases sensitivity to UV rays. It is highly recommended for nighttime use only. If used during the day, applying a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ is mandatory to prevent your dark spots from worsening.
- Patch Test: Always perform a 24-hour patch test (e.g., behind the ear or inside your wrist) to check for irritation before applying it to your face.
- Cycle of Use: Dermatologists recommend using it continuously for a 2-month cycle, followed by a 1- to 2-month break.
- Storage: Hydroquinone oxidizes easily. Store the tube in a cool, dark place to maintain its efficacy.
